Applying to the Graduate Program
Application Procedure
- All prospective classified graduate students, including
Sacramento State graduates, must file the following with
the Office of Graduate Studies
- An online application for admission (click here for online application);
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended, other than Sacramento State;
- Ensure your application includes your brief statement of interest, faculty sponsorship, area of specialty and long-term goals.
- Send a photocopy of ALL application materials directly to the Geology Dept. at the same time that you send the original of your original application to the Office of Graduate Studies. For Sacramento State graduates please include a photocopy of your CSUS transcripts.
- Three letters of recommendation from persons familiar with your academic record and professional capabilities, sent directly to the department.
- Prior to acceptance into the graduate program you must contact one or more Geology Dept faculty members to determine who will act as your faculty sponsor.
Applications are accepted as long as space for new students exists. However, students are strongly urged to apply by February 1 for the following fall or October 1 for the following spring in order to allow time for admission before University deadlines. A decision regarding admission will be mailed to the applicant upon receipt of all items listed above.
