Advising for prospective majors or minors

Prospective students should obtain advising prior to declaring the major or minor, which can be obtained in one of two ways: (1) meet with a Government Advisor OR (2) sign up for the group advising session for new majors/minors with the Department Chair (sign-up in the Department Office in Tahoe Hall 3104). Contact information for advisors can be found here; students can contact advisors either during their posted office hours or by emailing or calling them to set up an appointment.

Advising for declared majors and minors

All declared Government majors and minors should already be assigned to an advisor, which can be viewed through the Student Center tab on their My Sac State account; contact information for advisors can be found here; students can contact advisors either during their posted office hours or by emailing or calling them to set up an appointment.  If no advisor has been assigned, students should contact the department for assistance.  Students who wish to change their assigned advisor can do so by submitting the Request to Change Advisor form to the Department Office once it has been signed by the new advisor.
