This information is for applicants interested in Master's Degrees, Teaching Credentials or Post-Baccalaureate Study.
Undergraduate and 2nd Bachelor's degree applicants should read the Undergraduate Admissions information.
Credential candidates should contact the College of Education at (916) 278-6403 for specific requirements and procedures before applying to the University.
Nursing credential candidates should contact the Division of Nursing at (916) 278-6525 for specific requirements and more information.
International students (F or J Visa) must apply through International Admissions. Do NOT fill out the university graduate application as it will slow down your application process.

Applying to graduate school at Sacramento State entails a two part process:

Spring applicants may start submitting online applications starting August 1 st

Fall applicants may start submitting online applications starting October 1 st

Department Applications - Some programs require a supplemental application, which must be obtained from the department.

Teacher Credential Applicants – A Teacher Preparation Program Application must be submitted in place of Sections 7 and 8 of the online Graduate Admission Application. Therefore, Sections 7 and 8 may be left blank. Please type the words “Credential Student” in Section 9 , under Statement of Purpose.

Submit the online $55 Application Fee - Non-Refundable
Note: If you choose NOT to pay the $55 online application fee with a credit card, then you have the following options:

Mailing Payment – You may mail in your check to: Office of Graduate Studies, 6000 J Street , River Front Center – 206, Sacramento , CA 95819 - 6112 (must include full 9-digit zip code)

In Person Delivery – Visit the Office of Graduate Studies located in the River Front Center – Room 206, 6000 J Street, Sacramento, CA Sorry, our office cannot accept cash.
IMPORTANT - The online application confirmation number must be written on your check along with the words "WEB APPLICATION" .

Submit two (2) sets of official transcripts - One set will be forwarded to the department once your file is complete (Teacher Credential applicants will need three (3) sets). See TRANSCRIPTS section below for more information.
Students are encouraged to submit their online application, pay fees, and have all official transcripts submitted as early as possible .

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE : There is a limit of 6,920 characters, including spaces, for the Statement of Purpose. Anything beyond that limit will not print on the application .
