What the Guardian Scholars Program Means to Me

Mark Hamlett

"The only thing that I can really say is thank you. Because it takes people who actually care about something to have the type of job that they have. They actually do a lot for us. It's hard to just say thank you all the time because it gets kind of worn out and takes the meaning away from it, but if I could say anything it would just be "thank you" because there is really no (other) way of expressing how really appreciative of the program I am."

"The Guardian Scholars program has helped me by providing many resources, such as a book scholarship and updates on local job opportunities. They have also helped me realize that I can and I am able to be a leader to my fellow students here on campus by serving on the Student Advisory Committee. The Guardian Scholars' office is a place that I can go to any time that I am in need of something and I know that they will do teir best in helping me find a solution to my situation. They are also there when I want to shine and tell them about my accomplishments. I cannot even imagine what I would have done if I didn't have the Guardian Scholars on my side.

"I joined the Guardian Scholars Program my freshman year in 2009. I have been actively involved since day one. The program has taught me how to be a leader, how to be responsible, and how to accept the fact that it’s okay to ask for help. They have also assisted me by sending me to conferences where I had the opportunity to meet wonderful people and network, build the necessary skills to work in a professional career and helped me realize my potential. I will be forever grateful for my time with the Guardian Scholars Program. I will cherish the memories that were made here because they truly helped me grow into a happy and successful woman. I found a place where I could feel safe and comfortable. Thanks again for everything!"
