What the Guardian Scholars Program Means to Me

Mark Hamlett

"The only thing that I can really say is thank you. Because it takes people who actually care about something to have the type of job that they have. They actually do a lot for us. It's hard to just say thank you all the time because it gets kind of worn out and takes the meaning away from it, but if I could say anything it would just be "thank you" because there is really no (other) way of expressing how really appreciative of the program I am."

"The Guardian Scholars program has helped me by providing many resources, such as a book scholarship and updates on local job opportunities. They have also helped me realize that I can and I am able to be a leader to my fellow students here on campus by serving on the Student Advisory Committee. The Guardian Scholars' office is a place that I can go to any time that I am in need of something and I know that they will do teir best in helping me find a solution to my situation. They are also there when I want to shine and tell them about my accomplishments. I cannot even imagine what I would have done if I didn't have the Guardian Scholars on my side.

"Here I am. I'm in college, finally, with a scholarship to get me through and I'm really happy that someone was able to help me out that way. Basically, this is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I found people that I know are there for me, people who promise me that they will continue to be there for me and the greatest thing about it is the support. They want me to graduate. They want me to make something of myself. And they want me to be happy and confident with myself and around others. They're doing a great job."
