Impaction and Applying to the Criminal Justice Major
The Chancellor's Office of the California State University has granted the Division of Criminal Justice impaction status for its undergraduate program effective Fall 2012.
New applicants, including transfer students, must be admitted to the University prior to applying to the major.
Admission criteria are subject to change, depending on demand for the major.
Supplemental Admission Criteria for Criminal Justice
Effective Date Fall 2012
Eligibility for admission to the Criminal Justice major is based on academic achievement. Before admission to the major, all applicants must meet the requirements described below:
a. Overall GPA of 2.6 or higher
b. Completion of 45 units
c. Completion of the following courses:
Criminal Justice courses completed with a grade of “C” or better:
CRJ 1, Introduction to Criminal Justice
CRJ 2, Law of Crimes
CRJ 4, General Investigative Techniques
CRJ 5, The Community and the Justice System
Applicants will be rank ordered based on their overall GPA and the department will admit as many students as there are slots available.
The next Supplemental Admission period will be open February 1 through March 15, 2013. Students applying during this period are applying for admission to the Criminal Justice major for Fall 2013 registration. All Supplemental Admission Requirements must be met at the time of application to the major.
Important Information for Fall 2013 applicants Pursuing AS-T Degree:
1. For the AS-T to be considered in the Sacramento State admission decision, the applicant must be pursuing the approved AS-T in Criminal Justice at the time of application and must be on-track for completing the approved program prior to Fall 2013.
2. If the above is met, the AS-T degree curriculum is used in lieu of the Criminal Justice major specific courses for admission purposes.
3. If you are pursuing an AS-T in Criminal Justice, submit a copy of the completed degree evaluation (Verification of Intent to Earn AA-T or AS-T) document from your California Community College. The document must be mailed to Sacramento State Admissions Office, Lassen Hall 1100, 6000 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95819-6048 before Friday, March 22, 2013.
