PACC Option

Future professionals interested in pursuing a career in coaching, conditioning, personal training or other various physical activity settings might find the Physical Activity Conditioning and Coaching (PACC) option a better choice. According to the Careers in Sport Fitness and Exercise (2011), a publication by the American Kinesiology Association, “The very best programs offer a solid grounding in the broad field of kinesiology including exercise physiology; biomechanics; motor development, motor control, motor learning; sport psychology; and social analysis of sport and physical activity.” The PACC option not only includes a wide variety of experiences within the field of Kinesiology but also prepares graduates for opportunities in numerous movement settings other than a career as a physical educator.

Currently, certified personal trainers are experiencing an employment boom and with the U.S. Department of Labor, expecting a 13% growth in the next decade. Practitioners in Kinesiology are becoming increasingly aware of the advantages associated with obtaining and maintaining professional credentials beyond their undergraduate training. The PACC option provides its graduates with the foundation necessary for the advantages associated with the following certifications:

  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Group Exercise Instructor(GEI)
  • ACSM Certified Personal Trainer(CPT)
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association(NSCA)-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
  • NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT)
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer(CPT)
