RN to BSN ELEMENTS

Completion of the BSN requires a total of between 120 to 132 units. This includes 50 units in the upper division Nursing major, 9 units of upper division GE taken at Sacramento State and lower division GE and Nursing courses transferred from another college or taken at Sacramento State. You are required to complete a minimum of 30 units in residence on the Sac State campus.*

  • N171: Transitional Concepts for Professional Nursing (6 units)
  • N173: Theoretical Foundations for Leadership and Management (6 units)
  • N174: Community Health Nursing (6 units)
  • N170: Nursing Research (3 units)
  • N179: Reasoning and Critical Thinking (3 units)
  • N178: Culminating Project (3 units)
  • Completion of NCLEX (17 Units)
  • Total Units 44

 * Students graduating with a BSN (post-licensure) in Nursing will not be subject to the University’s Foreign Language Graduation Requirement. Students who change majors may be subject to the University’s Foreign Language Graduation Requirement.

*Two upper division general education classes required in addition to the required nursing courses.
