Undergraduate Program in RPTA

At Sacramento State, we're proud that our undergraduate program is the oldest COAPRT accredited recreation program in the state of California!

The Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration allows students to choose from two distinct degree concentrations:

  1. Recreation and Park Management (RPM)

Students in this degree concentration follow a set of core courses (see the "RPTA Course Catalog" link under the "Resources" tab), and then add supportive courses (electives) in one of three areas:
    • Commercial Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality Management
    • Community Recreation Management
    • Park and Recreation Resource Management (informally called Outdoor Recreation Management)

For RPTA majors, these elective courses can be combined with core courses to create Certificate Programs in RPTA. Please visit the Certificates and Minors link for more information.

  2. Recreation Therapy (RT)

In this concentration, students follow a set of core classes (see the "RPTA Course Catalog" link under the "Resources" tab), and then a carefully designed academic path to meet national and state certification requirements.

For a listing of all core courses, supportive courses, and other degree requirements for both concentrations, see the "RPTA Course Catalog" link under the "Resources" tab.
