The Student Health Services Pharmacy is in a state-of-the-art facility located at The WELL. Prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications are available to Sac State students at a very reasonable price. It is the priority of our pharmacy staff to provide the highest level of care to each patient in Patient Education and Customer Service.

Cold Kit: The pharmacy offers an inexpensive kit to help treat and manage cold and flu symptoms. The cold kit is filled with many items including throat lozenges, nasal decongestant, antihistamine, thermometer, and chicken soup.

Over-the-Counter Products: Our pharmacy stocks over-the-counter medications, first aid products, vitamins, herbal supplements, and toiletries. These items are available for purchases by Sac State students and staff.

Patient Education: Our pharmacists maintain a high level of education and consultation. We know that many students are away from home for the first time, and may not know the proper way to take their medications, or to look out for interactions or allergies. The pharmacy staff is available to answer any questions regarding your medication regimen or to help with recommendations for the OTC purchase.

Prescriptions: Our pharmacy services are available to Sac State students. The pharmacy stocks medications common to college students, but not necessarily all types to keep costs to a minimum. Please call the pharmacy at (916) 278-6040 if you have any questions about which medications we carry. If you require a special order medication, please check with the pharmacy staff for availability. The Sac State pharmacy accepts prescriptions from Sac State Health Services providers, as well as from any licensed practitioner in the United States in accordance with state and federal law.

  • If you wish to transfer an existing prescription from another pharmacy to the Sac State pharmacy, available options are:
    1. Call the pharmacy at (916) 278-6040 and provide us with the outside pharmacy’s prescription information
    2. Bring in your empty bottle 
    3. Fill out a prescription transfer-in form online and bring it in.
  • If you wish to transfer a prescription from Sac State to an outside pharmacy you may: Call the pharmacy that you want to fill your prescription and give them our direct phone number (916) 278-6040 and any pertinent information (Rx number, name of drug, etc.) they may need. They will call us and transfer the prescription out for you.
  • We currently do not accept third party insurance plans except for Family PACT. Prescriptions can be paid for by cash, check, credit card, or OneCard. Students with third party insurance plans may take their prescription to an outside pharmacy.

Refills: For refill requests, call (916) 278-6040. Walk-in refills are always welcome during normal business hours. Online refill requests can be made through the patient portal on the Health Services website: www.csus.edu/hlth/portalindex.html
