The goal of our program is to help students develop skills and empower them to make healthy choices for their own personal health and wellness.  We believe a healthy lifestyle can be easy and fun!


Lifestyle Assessment

A computerized assessment which helps analyze how your lifestyle behaviors may be affecting your health. To schedule a 15 minute appointment to complete an assessment call 278-6461 or stop by the Health & Wellness Promotion Department, Room 1011.


Diet Analysis

Why do I need a Diet Analysis?

Understanding your diet and how it is affecting your goal is essential to your health. It will help you:

  • Assess, monitor and modify your diet as needed
  • Ensure your nutritional needs are being met
  • Optimize your diet to enhance your personal health goals
  • Review dietary goals for special diets
  • Evaluate your meal planning 

See how your diet stacks up!  We will prepare a report for you that compares your current nutrient intake with the nutrition that you need based on your height, weight, age, gender, and activity level, all for FREE!

Diet analysis Instructions:

  1. Download the following three-day food record forms or stop by Health & Wellness Promotion, Room 1011 to pick up the forms.
  2. Print and fill out the food record forms.   Instructions are included on the forms, please read and follow them carefully.  If you have any questions, please call 916-278-5422.
  3. Bring the completed forms to Health & Wellness Promotion, Room 1011.  We will make an appointment for you to come back and pick up your results.
  4. All diet analysis appointments include a brief consultation with a trained Peer Health Educator.  They will help you navigate your diet analysis results and answer any general questions you might have.  You will also receive educational resources on nutrition and healthy eating.

Hornets on the Move - Running and Walking Group

Hornets on the Move (HOTM)- a collaborative program of Sacramento State Recreational Sports, Student Health Services and Peak Adventures, is a free walking and running group for students, staff and faculty.  HOTM uses local trails and group motivation to help participants improve their health through running and walking for fitness.  The program objectives include:

  1. To implement an action-oriented wellness education activity.
  2. To assist in the establishment of a running and walking group for students, staff and faculty at varying levels of fitness with the intention of encouraging positive choices for personal wellness.
  3. To offer individuals a social network that will support each individual's attainment of their fitness goals.
  4. To have fun!

    Where: meet in front of the Student Health Center.
    During each meeting there will be one faculty advisor and/or one peer health educator guiding members through workouts.

    Each member will receive a free HOTM dri-fit tee shirt after their fifth time participating.
