Hornets travel to FlagstaffBy Josh EllisSpecial to The Hornet Published October 23, 1998 CSUS' football team will look to win its first league road victory ever when they encounter Northern Arizona this weekend. The Hornets (3-4 overall, 1-3 in Big Sky) will try to get back into the Big Sky race against a Lumberjack team (4-3, 1-3) that has been up and down all season. Last year's meeting ended up in a shoot-out with both teams combined for 987 yards of total offense, but the Hornets lost 48-25. Running back Charles Roberts is now the nation¹s leading rusher in Division 1-AA with 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. Roberts has rushed for over 200 yards for the third game this season and had a career-high four touchdowns last week against CSU Northridge. He is currently in contention for the Walter Payton Trophy, Division 1-AA's version of the Heisman Trophy. Last week the Hornet defense caused five turnovers and recorded seven sacks against the No. 16-ranked Northridge. Linebacker Ryland Wickman moved to middle backer from outside backer and made a big impact, forcing four fumbles and making 13 tackles. The key to the game will be the health of Lumberjack quarterback Travis Brown. Northern Arizona relies on his arm to move the offense, but a non- throwing elbow injury has slowed him slightly.
