CSUS career center director to be arraigned

Russell Bruch, the CSUS career center director accused of attempted statutory rape, is set to be arraigned December 14 in Yolo County Superior Court.

Bruch, 58, has been charged with four felony counts including the attempted statutory rape charge and attempted oral copulation. Davis police started the investigation when a state-mandated reporter contacted them about e-mail conversations Bruch was having with a 16-year-old girl.

The electronic conversations started when the girl e-mailed Bruch about a drama production. According to police, the conversations moved beyond the drama production and into their personal lives, ending up with Bruch making sexual advances toward the girl.

Davis police then took over the girl's role in the e-mail communications and set up an arrest when Bruch suggested that he and the girl meet privately. He was arrested November 13 in Davis after allegedly arriving at an apartment ready to meet the girl.
