Assists Champ: Rafferty takes Big Sky all-time lead as volleyball splits two games

With her 53 assists in a four-game Sac State loss to No. 1 University of the Pacific Tuesday, Maureen Rafferty pushed her career total to 5,245 and became the all-time Big Sky conference assists leader. In a Wednesday night contest, the Hornets downed Weber State in three games. The Hornet win was the team's 15th consecutive victory over a conference opponent.

Angela Lewis led the way against the Wildcats with 19 kills while Rafferty's 47 assists also contributed. The final score was 15-12, 15-11, 15-10.

In the second game against the Tigers, the Hornets rolled in route to a 15-3 victory. As the green-and-gold were leading 6-1, setter Maureen Rafferty pulled off a fake the set, no look, kill that baffled the Tigers and dazzled the crowd.

The Hornets however were unable to sustain the momentum and ultimately lost the match 9-15, 15-3, 11-15, 6-15. The women's next game is Saturday when they trek to the desert to battle Northern Arizona in another conference game.
