  • Ten comedians will be battling for the top spot in this year's San Francisco International Comedy Competition semi-finals Oct. 2 in the University Union ballroom. Emmy-winning comedian Mike Dugan hosts the show. Admission will cost $8.00 general admission and $5.50 for CSUS students with an I.D. card. Tickets are only available in advance through BASS tickets and can be purchased in the Union. The laughs begin at 7:30.

  • A Pan African Seminar/Film Series will begin Wednesday in the University Union Tahoe Room at 7:30 p.m. and continue every other Wednesday.

  • Movimento Estudental Chicano de Atzlan, the Chicano student movement, will present Raza Poetry with Phil Goldvarg of the Sacramento Zapatista Solidarity Committee Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the University Union Auditorium Call 387-1192 or the CSUS Multi-Cultural Center at 278-6101 for more information.

  • The University Union South Lawn will be rockin' Wednesday at noon to the rock, blues, and country sounds of the Beer Dawgs.

  • Gaiatribe will perform Thursday on the South Lawn. This world rhythms band will present participatory drumming and dancing.

    Sacramento Police Department is asking for help identifying a suspect in a sexual assault that occurred Tuesday.

    Police describe the suspect as an African American male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds with short, curly black hair.

    The assault is reported to have occurred in the 7900 block of La Riviera Drive in Sacramento.

    Anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity or the crime is asked to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or (800) AA-CRIME. Callers may remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
