With a commanding three-game win over the University of San Francisco on Wednesday, the Sac State women's volleyball team has gained the momentum they wanted for upcoming matches. The Hornets dominated the Dons 15-10, 15-5, 15-9.

The non-conference win put the team over the .500 mark with a 6-5 overall record.

Head coach Debby Colberg was pleased with the win.

"This match was important for us in building our confidence for the season," she said. "We served very well and they just couldn't seem to run their offense."

The Hornets capitalized on the Dons early and were able to control the lead for the final two matches. They jumped out to an 11-0 lead to start the second match. Senior middle hitter Angela Lewis recorded 29 kills, more than half the Dons' team total, and sophomore center Tasman Dwyer finished with 15 of her own.

The women are still improving.

"We have a long way to go," Colberg said. "We're still struggling, but this match definitely built up our confidence."

The Hornets play two conference matches next week, Sept. 30 at Eastern Washington and the next night at Portland State.
