FOUNTAIN RESPITE — Liberal Studies major Margaret Allbritten enjoys a sunny noontime break by the fountain in the Library Quad.
  • Comic strip creator Aaron McGruder will give a lecture entitled "What's the Color of Funny? Race, Society and Comic Strips" Thursday, Oct. 7 in the Union Ballroom from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. See the story in this week’s State Hornet.

  • Put on your dancin' shoes Wednesday at noon for jump blues and swing by The Hucklebucks on the Union South Lawn.

  • The Robert Else Gallery in the Art building is displaying the works of Claudia Bernardi through Oct.8. The exhibit is entitled "Making Tender the Dust."

  • Mark Wellman, rock climber and Paralympic champion, will conduct a free rock climbing lecture and demonstration on Oct. 14 in the Library Quad, beginning at 11 a.m. This display will be sponsored by the Multi-Cultural Center, and Services to Students With Disabilities. Wellman, who is permanently disabled due to a spinal cord injury, is well known within both the sport of rock climbing, and the Paralympics organization. Using only his arms, Wellman climbed 186 feet in 1996 to light the Paralympics torch and open the games.

  • The Student Health Center will offer flu shots on Wednesday, October 6 and Thursday, October 19, in the breezeway of the library from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. The cost for the flu shots will be free for those who have the Augmented Fee Plan and $7.00 for those who do not have the Plan. Faculty and staff will be charged $10 per shot.

  • Regional Transit News Release:The Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) will operate regular weekday service on Columbus Day [Monday, October 11] with the exception of some express bus routes. Express bus riders should consult their route schedules because RT will not operate express route trips marked with an "F" or "H" on that holiday. For route and schedule information, call 321-BUSS or 483-HEAR (TDD) or visit the RT website at www.sacrt.com.
