The home winning streak continued for Sac State in convincing style as they scored a significant win over Montana State on Oct. 11 in three games, 15-10, 15-12, 16-14.

The win knocked the Bobcats out of third place to give the Hornets sole possession for the time being.

"Our heads were in the game the whole time," said sophomore Tasman Dwyer.

In the final game, the Hornets showed composure when they battled back from a 9-2 deficit to win the final game 16-14.

"Team play was very streaky," coach Debby Colberg said. "We would be down and then have to come back. The team is getting more of a sense of what they can really do if they stay focused. This week is a very big week for us."

Junior Sarah Chlebana led the team in kills with 24. Dwyer followed with 20. Senior Maureen Rafferty added 77 sets to wrap up the victory.

"It was an important match because it broke the three way (third place) tie," Rafferty said. "We needed to play well and we ultimately did."

The win came with some of the best crowd support the team has received all year.

"We love how the crowd fires us up here," Dwyer said. "It's a lot more difficult on the road compared to playing at home."
