Contractors work on brickwork in the library quad on Tuesday. Names of alumni are being engraved on the bricks to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the university.
  • Shirley Thornton will speak on "African Americans at the Crossroad," tomorrow in the University Union Foothill Suite at noon. This event is the annual Anna J. Cooper lecture.

  • CSUS Volleyball team plays Eastern Washington in the Hornet Gym Saturday night at 7 p.m. Admission is $5; children ages 6-12 are $2; CSUS students are free. Tickets are sold at the door.

  • Barbara O’Conner will speak on the question, "Are we ready for a female president?" this Friday in a public forum sponsored by the CSUS Renaissance Society. The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., in Room 1005 of Mendocino Hall. O’Conner is a nationally recognized expert in the fields of political communication and telecommunications policy.

  • Priority admission days will be held Nov. 2 and 4 at CSUS. During those days eligible freshmen applicants can bring their transcripts and test scores and meet with a counselor to gain immediate admission to CSUS. Appointments for on-the-spot admissions can be made by calling (916) 278-4357 from noon to 5 p.m. weekdays. The deadline is Wednesday.
