Late book returns result in a fine mess

Students who do not pay attention to library rules sometimes face difficulties, especially during registration time. For example, failure to pay library fines can lead to a hold on a student's record, meaning he or she cannot register for classes. This can be very disturbing, especially during Casper registration for popular classes.

To avoid fines, students should return library materials on time. If a student needs to renew a book, she or he should take the books to the information desk or circulation desk.

Students can also renew materials online at www.csus.edu/csuslibr by clicking on Eureka, then on View your library record. The student should enter his or her complete name, social security number, and pin number.

To make a pin number, student has to select a number with at least 4-digits. Items can only be renewed once on line.

The Library charges $10 for each overdue book, plus a $10 processing fee. The Library Media Center charges 25 cents per hour per item, plus a $10 service charge. The Reserve Book Room charges vary from 25 cents per hour to 25 cents per day depending on the items, and a penalty of $10 dollars for overdue items requested by another student.

A library hold can be cleared as soon as the student pays the fine at the circulation desk located on the first floor of the library. If a student refuses to pay the library fine after 90 days, the library hold will be changed to a campus hold. It takes two business days to clear a campus hold.
