Gerth to head impaction task forceKristi Garrett
LONG BEACH - President Donald Gerth will chair a committee to develop concrete policies to deal with the pressures enrollment growth is placing on access to California State Universities. Eight to 10 persons, including student representatives, will serve on the committee, which should have its first meeting in just a couple of weeks, Gerth said. Several CSU campuses are impacted or getting very close to it. Projections are that CSUs will need to absorb an additional 11,000 to 13,000 students annually in the next 10 years. William Campbell, chair of the committee on educational policy, asked impacted campuses such as San Diego and Sonoma to get involved in making recommendations. The task force will report to the chancellor before bringing policy changes to the board for a vote in March. | |
