New Online Positions

Online Editor
This position requires a background in journalism. The position requires familiarity with navigating the World Wide Web and a healthy curiosity about new applications. The Online Editor will supervise the Online staff and ensure the Web site is updated timely each weekday and meets high journalistic standards. Web knowledge is a must.

Webmaster
In this technical position, a non-journalist will manage the daily uploads to the Web site and be the site’s primary troubleshooter. Advanced knowledge of HTML and Web page design is required, along with Adobe Photoshop/Imageready.

Online Content Editor
This editor will assign and receive stories to be posted on the Web site. This journalist has experience reporting and editing and has good news judgment. Familiarity with the Internet is helpful, though not absolutely necessary. This person is responsible for gathering all components to upload to the Web site for daily publication.

Technical Editor
This position does not require an experienced journalist, but familiarity with Internet applications is helpful. This person will review all community publishing for suitability for the Web site, update calendars, and monitor the "sticky applications" offered on the State Hornet site.

Assistant Webmaster
This person will assist in the updating of the daily site. A basic understanding of HTML is a must, as well as the desire to learn.

Online Graphic Designer
Must have mastery of Adobe Photoshop and Image Ready, and will be responsible for graphic and ad creation, particularly for the Web. Must have a good eye for photos and be able to translate creations for the Web.

Graphic Artist
Must have some experience with Adobe Photoshop, and other appropriate software and will be trained for graphic and ad creation, particularly for the Web.

Online Reporters
These journalists will get experience filing stories for daily publication on the State Hornet Web site.
