CFA votes down salary agreement

March 2, 1999

California Faculty Association members on 22 CSU campuses statewide voted down a tentative agreement with the Chancellor’s office Friday that would have ended nearly a year of conflict over faculty salaries.

Union members at CSUS voted nearly five to one against the tentative agreement, with 248 of 304 CFA members voting no. Statewide, the vote was 57 percent against accepting the agreement to 43 percent for it.

Accident delays traffic to campus
A multi-car collision involving five vehicles near the H Street bridge delayed traffic approaching the main entrance to CSUS for almost 35 minutes Monday morning. The collision, which occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m., had traffic backed up to north of the intersection of Northrop and Howe Avenues and to the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Fulton Avenue east of CSUS.

Vacancies filled: ASI adds four directors
New faces, a new relationship and a new box at home football games and free tickets are in the works at today’s meeting of the Associated Students, Inc. board of directors.

Drop policy change will take effect next semester
The Faculty Senate has amended the CSUS Add/Drop policy to require students wishing to drop a course after the sixth week of classes to obtain a dean’s signature.

Microsoft deal delayed again
Students and staff are still waiting for the chance to buy discounted packages of some of Microsoft’s most popular products and may not be able to purchase the $20 CD-ROMs until early March.

Student workers taken off job at information booths
University Transportation and Parking Services has replaced student assistants working in the campus information booths with full-time employees.

Office permits for dozens of campus elevators have recently expired due to a backlog at the department for Occupational Safety and Health, which is responsible for inspecting them.

The American Cancer Society’s annual “Daffodil Days” fundraiser to benefit cancer patients and their families has come to CSUS.
