Board elects Sommers as new editor in chief
State Hornet Published May 5, 1999 Expanding the State Hornets presence on the Internet is the top priority of the next Editor in Chief of the State Hornet, David Sommers. I want the State Hornets Web site to be the first place people turn to when they want to know the latest about CSUS, said Sommers. With the students supporting us through Referendum Two, we will be able to expand the Web site and post information about our campus daily. Sommers was selected Friday by the State Hornet Publications Board, which is the publisher of the award-winning newspaper. He was one of three candidates for the position and will be succeeding the current editor in chief at the end of the Spring 1999 semester. I have a long summer and a lot of work to do, but I really cant wait to get started, said Sommers. The nineteen-year-old is currently a sophomore double-majoring in government-journalism. He is also a second-year cadet in the ROTC program, which he credits with giving him the leadership skills needed to take on his newest position. ROTC has taught me discipline and endurance, said Sommers. Im sure Ill be needing both in the next year! Sommers served as a reporter for the Hornet last semester and is the current assistant editor for the news department He is also a member of the State Hornet Publications Board. I want to continue the Hornets 50-year tradition of informing CSUS about the events and issues that will affect the lives of the entire campus community, said Sommers.
