Faculty and Staff Fee Waiver Program

ANNOUNCEMENT:  Applications For Fee Waiver are Anticipated To Be Accepted Between Early April 2018 and May 2, 2018 (For Summer and Fall 2018).  An Announcement Will Be Sent Out With Additional Details

Eligibility to Participate in the Fee Waiver Program

The Fee Waiver Program allows eligible faculty and staff to participate in CSU general-fund programs at reduced rates, or transfer their benefit to a qualified dependent.  To determine eligibility for yourself or your dependent, please Click Here.

Fees Waived

Generally, the tuition fees are waived up to two (2) courses or six (6) units, whichever is greater, per term. This includes the Tuition Fee charged during state-supported summer term and the Doctorate Tuition Fee charged for the CSU Ed.D. Program. For specific information regarding which fees are waived (and to what extent), please Click Here.  Eligible employees or dependents taking courses in addition to the fee waiver courses shall pay any difference in fees. All other fees are at the regular rates.

Application Requirements and Due Dates

Our application process is changing and we will provide updates as available. Please do not submit the old forms as they are no longer being accepted.  Fee waiver applications for both Summer 2018 and Fall 2018 will now be accepted between early April 2018 and May 2, 2018.  If you have recently submitted a certificate of eligibility as a new fee waiver participant in either summer or fall, you will be contacted regarding next steps. If you have questions or concerns, please call the Benefits Office at (916) 278-6213.  Click Here to access information about how to apply to the university.

Special Note: Attending Another CSU

If you or your dependent plan to attend another CSU, you will first complete the application for the fee waiver benefit (or transfer of benefit form for a dependent) and submit to the Sacramento State Benefits Office.  Sacramento State will then determine your eligibility (and your dependent’s eligibility, if applicable) and send the paperwork to the CSU you or your dependent plan to attend.  That CSU will establish student eligibility (academic good standing), course eligibility (e.g., state-supported), and process the fee waiver.  Note: It is important to know the fee waiver deadlines for both the employee’s campus and the student’s campus.  Submit all required fee waiver documentation in time to meet whichever deadline is earlier.

There may be tax consequences arising from the fee waiver benefit.  Please Click Here to access general information regarding fee waivers and taxes.

Normal Academic Standards

In order to continue participation in the fee waiver program, employees, spouse, domestic partner or dependent child must maintain normal academic standards.
