How are Background Checks ordered?

  • Recruited Positions (including faculty):  The HR Recruitment Analyst or Manager will determine if a background check is required and will order the appropriate package through Accurate Background, or will arrange Live Scan Fingerprinting when it is required.
  • Non-recruited staff and MPP positions:  For temporary reclassifications (including reclassification to MPP) and other miscellaneous non-recruited moves – the HR Operations Analyst will review the new position, determine the appropriate background check (if any), and order the appropriate package.
  • For 60/90/180-day temporary employees, Casual Workers, Retired Annuitants, Campus Volunteers: The HR Coordinator will review the position, determine the appropriate background check (if any), and order the appropriate package. Please note: Many of the forms for these positions are being revised to include information to aid HR in the determination of background check factors.
  • Special Consultants: The HR Operations Analyst will review the paperwork, determine the appropriate background check (if any), and order the appropriate package.
  • Student workers (Unit 11):  In conjuction with the Office of Graduate Studies, a determination will be made regarding the necessity of background checks for TA/GA/ISA positions based on the nature of the position.  HR will contact the Unit 11 employee as well as the hiring department regarding those positions for whom a background check is required.
