Welcome to the website of the Interdisciplinary Center for Sustainability (ICS) at California State University, Sacramento
Who We Are
The vision of the CSUS Interdisciplinary Center for Sustainability is to help realize an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable Sacramento region, based on increased use of local, renewable resources.
The mission of the Center is to (1) educate regarding the issue of sustainability, (2) carry out research assessing essential needs for both the CSUS campus and the Sacramento region, (3) influence policy and promote projects at campus, regional, and state levels that will bring about greater reliance on local resources.
ICS is interdisciplinary in its intention to stimulate conversations and cooperation between different segments of the campus and local populations that share this vision, but who typically communicate and work in isolation from one another. ICS seeks to promote sustainability in the Sacramento region in a way that integrates the values and general concerns of
students, staff, faculty and administrators on this campus as a whole with the specialized perspectives of scientists, scholars, community environmental groups, the business community, and state agencies and legislators.
Please contact Marsha Robinson (marobins@csus.edu) to be added to the ICS listserve, or Joel Dubois at (916) 278-5332 or (jdubois@csus.edu) for more information about how to get involved.
