Sue Burr is Co-Director (with Gary Hart) of the California State University (CSU) Institute for Education Reform. The Institute promotes education reform efforts which are aimed at improving pupil academic achievement. Ms. Burr co-authored the recently-released report, "The Teachers Who Teach Our Teachers" which reviewed the teacher preparation programs within the CSU system and made a number of recommendations for improvement.

Formerly the Principal Consultant to the Senate Education Committee, Ms. Burr assisted Senator Gary K. Hart in ensuring the enactment of several pieces of legislation including the Charter Schools Act. She was employed by the California State Legislature for 14 years and served as education consultant to the Senate Appropriations Committee and the legislative Analyst's Office.

Ms. Burr holds a baccalaureate and a Master's degree in business administration from CSU, Sacramento. She is married and has one daughter who attends sixth grade in the Elk Grove Unified School District.
