Research
Sacramento State is a regional leader in applied research. We have
more than 30 research centers and institutes that conduct research
in the public interest and for industry and government clients.

Center
for California Studies
Promotes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding California through
research, conferences and special programs for high school students. Also
runs the Capital Fellows Program, which provides 64 graduate students
with 11-month paid fellowships in state government.

Center
for Collaborative Policy
Works to build the capacity of public agencies, stakeholder groups,
and the public to use collaborative strategies to improve public policy.
Has worked with groups on issues such as Sacramento water sharing and
regional transportation.

chair of the Sacramento State electrical and electronic engineering
department, has received numerous grants and awards for his research

Hydrogeology
Professor Tim Horner
and a team of grad students are investigating the physical and
chemical conditions Pacific salmon need for spawning. Sacramento
State offers a master’s program in hydrogeology. |
Center
for Small Business
Provides free management assistance to small businesses in the Capital
Region in virtually all facets of business. Has served about 2,800 small
businesses since its founding in 1969.

Institute
for Education Reform
Focuses on elementary and secondary school issues, with an emphasis
on major reform issues. Includes the Charter School Development Center
and CalTeach, a statewide teacher recruiting program.

for Higher Education Leadership and Policy
Conducts research on higher education in California and the nation,
with a special emphasis on community colleges.

for Social Research
Offers research such as program evaluations, surveys and needs assessments.
Conducted a Capital Region visitor survey for the Sacramento Visitors
and Convention Bureau and is involved with an ongoing federal study
of drug use among arrestees.

Sacramento
Regional Research Institute
(joint venture with Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization
(SACTO))
Provides economic and demographic analysis throughout the region, such
as the recent Placer County technology study and an ongoing 20-year
regional workforce study.
