U.S. Federal Court Cases

United States Federal court system is consists of three levels: district courts, court of appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court with several specialized courts. The Administrative Office of the U.S. courts provides a brief description of the courts structure.

District Courts

District court cases are not freely available on the internet but are available in libraries that own West's Federal Supplement. Cases are indexed by subject in West's Federal Practice Digest at the CSUS Library and available electronically on LEXIS/NEXIS.

Court of Appeals

The Court of Appeals is the appellate level court for district courts. It is divided into 11 circuits which cover the United States. Search for circuit cases.

U.S. Supreme Court

The Supreme Court is the final appellate court for the United States. Search for:
