Summer Travels 2009 to Ghana

Guyana

Boston, New York, Toronto and Jamaica.

 

This summer my travels took me to countries and locations I have never visited before as well as old tried and proven havens. This was the summer 2009 when the state of California was in a deep budget funk and the people employed and responsible for managing the economic affairs of the state determined that one of the ways to balance the budget and make up the shortfall was to furlough workers such as faculty at the state universities. So, I am now slated to make just over 10% less income than I did the previous year.

Instead of spending all of my time in disappointment over my decreased income, I decided to travel as I have never traveled during a summer before. In between my trips I did complete my syllabi for my teaching responsibilities and made copies available to the students registered for my courses.

 

I will try and include photos that highlight some of the experiences from the summer travels which began right after graduation in May and ended right before the start of the semester in August.
