Liz Hanson

 

Liz is a graduating senior at Mira Loma High School, in Sacramento. At Sac State, she is investigating the swimming abilities of very young cichlids. We are currently designing the ultimate swimming race-track for fish fry. We are interested in evaluating the increase in fry swimming performance as a function of their daily growth.

The use of swim tunnels (or "flumes") has a long history in biology, but seldom have researchers attempted to make a swim apparatus for such small swimmers (typical cichlid fry are less than 1 cm in length).

Liz joined the lab in October 2006.
