I am a full-time lecturer in the Philosophy Department here at CSUS, and a member of the Asian Studies program. I received my B.A. at UC Berkeley and my M.A/Ph.D. at UC Santa Barbara. My main interests are in the Philosophy of Religion (Miracles, Divine Agency), History of Western Philosophy, Asian Philosophy, and Environmental Ethics.

I have published a book entitled The Philosophy of Miracles (Continuum 2007). My main concern in this book is to apply contemporary discussion in the theory of action to the problem of miracles, and construct a conception of the miraculous which is consistent with the assumptions of naturalism and which provides an alternative to the usual notion of a miracle as a violation of natural law.

If you wish to add: Once my sections are fully enrolled they will be closed to online adds. I do not plan to add students to any section that is already fully enrolled, once the term has begun, though I may make an exception for Philosophy or Asian Studies students, those who were waitlisted, or those who contact me prior to the beginning of class. If you want to add one of my sections that has been closed to online adds, your chances will be much better if you contact me before the class meets for the first time- the earlier the better.

If you are enrolled in one of my sections but cannot attend on the first day, it is important that you leave me a message (by telephone or email) indicating your interest in the course. Otherwise, if the course is overenrolled prior to the beginning of the semester, you may be dropped. (Don't assume that you will be, however; if you decide not to attend, you are responsible for dropping.)

All of my courses have online course content accessible through SacCT.
In order to access SacCT you must have a Saclink account. If you don't have one, you can apply online. If you are registered in one of my courses and you do not have a Saclink account, please apply for one as soon as possible. If you sign up for a Saclink account and do not get access to SacCT within 24 hours, please email me with your Saclink ID. (This is the ID you use to log onto your Saclink account.)
