Due to tight budgets, like many others our department no longer provides a printed copy of the syllabus. For this reason, and also because online formats have become standard for sharing information, I provide information about the class through this public course content site, thus allowing for more flexibility and interactivity than a traditional syllabus. This site can be accessed easily outside of SacCT by simply using Google or some other search engine to find my name and the course number (HRS 147). The SacCT site is used for communication, assessments and submitting assignments (see "Course Policies"), but it is this site that provides all the information about the way the course is structured.

In addition to providing in depth information about assignments, the content of a traditional syllabus is found in three places on this site:

  1. an overview that includes the course description, learning objectives, and list of sources, to be viewed online; and a concise breakdown of assignments and point values, which you should *PRINT AND KEEP* with your course materials.

  2. a PDF document entitled "Course Policies," which you should *PRINT AND KEEP* with your course materials.

  3. a schedule of readings that contains numerous links to necessary study materials. **I DO NOT RECOMMEND PRINTING** the course schedule, at least initially; wait until you have been exposed to its use during the first few weeks of class, after which you may find it most practical to consult the schedule online when you need it. I DO strongly recommend **printing out the reading guides** for each unit, which provide all the information you will need about assigned readings.
