Getting to Know You

The purpose of this strategy is to introduce students to parents, other students, or visitors to the classroom. The strategy focuses on the interrelationship of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It provides authentic reasons for reading and writing.


This procedure is intended to help teachers become more responsive to helping students access appropriate knowledge when reading expository text. K-W-L is also intended to support student learning before, during, and after reading.
