Welcome back! A few reminders/announcements as we begin the course:

  • I have ordered and will be using the 4th edition of the Leary text. However, the bookstore has informed me that it is only able to obtain some copies of this earlier text and will supplement with the newer (5th) edition. You may use either edition for this course.
  • Besides your textbooks, there are four required supplementary readings noted on the course schedule. You can click on the links for pdf files of these readings. They are password protected so please see the instructor for the password.
  • Be sure to check the course schedule and this announcements page periodically (at least once a week); They are updated frequently.
  • We will be forming research project groups early in the semester. Please let me know by Tues, Sept 8th if you have any requests for being placed in a group with another student in the class.

A note about faculty furloughs: As you probably know, due to budget cuts, faculty have been put on furlough this academic year. Some of the furlough days are mandated by the University and occur during existing instructional breaks. The remaining days are chosen by each instructor. Although some of my furlough days needed to be scheduled during class time, I have endeavored to choose days that are the least disruptive to student instruction. These "faculty furlough days" were already allotted for group work or other outside activity, and are listed on the on line course schedule. I will not be in class those days, but you should use the class time to meet with your research group or work on the planned activity. Please note that I will not be available at all on designated faculty furlough days.
