5/16/11

  • Use the PIN you provided to check your Interim Grade. The totals do not yet include the final paper or Homework #9 or #10.  If you did not provide a PIN, check with me to see what PIN I assigned you. Let me know if my records do not match up with yours. I can easily check a graded assignment and correct my records - but would need to do so by May 24th.

5/2/11

  • I will accept early drafts of your Research Paper (optional, but encouraged!) to provide early feedback if turned in on or before FRIDAY, MAY 6th. You may give me your paper in class or slip it under my office door (BRH 232).

  • On Wed, 5/11 (last day of class), we'll conduct a poster session for our research project results. Each group is responsible for presenting a poster for their projects. We'll spend class time on Wed 5/4 in groups to work on the poster, so take a look at the Poster Session handout before class on Wed.

4/25/11

  • I have made some adjustments to the schedule and assignment due dates, so check out the revised course schedule for changes. Homework 9 and 10 are due after the exam.
  • The third exam is scheduled for Monday, 5/2. I have posted the exam guide, but check it for revisions on Wed. as I will cross out any terms I am not able to cover this week. I will conduct a brief review in class on Wed 4/27 so bring any questions you have and email me with any more this week.
  • Remember to bring your calculator, and t-test and chi-square handouts to the exam. I will provide any statistical tables you will need that day.

4/13/11

  • I have made some adjustments to the schedule and assignment due dates, so check out the revised course schedule for changes.
  • The second critique paper is now due on April 25th. Please pick up your articles outside my office (BRH 232) if you did not receive them in class today.
  • We will be completing our problem sets and conducting data analysis for our group projects, and completing Worksheet # 3 on Monday,  during the week of April 11th. Please bring the worksheet, your calculator, problem set and t-test and chi-square handouts, as well as your group's data with you that day.

  • Worksheet II is due on Monday, March 14th. For each group, turn in one copy of the worksheet with materials attached. Each individual group member should also turn in a draft of the method section (participants, materials, procedures) for my review.
  • We will be completing and turning in Homework #4 (Problem set) in class on Wednesday, 3/9. Please bring a copy of the problem set and a calculator with you to class that day.
  • I have made some adjustments to the course schedule with regard to readings and the order of lectures over the next few weeks. Please take a look.

  • If your group has not yet turned in the first research project worksheet, it is due by Feb 28th. Please see me with questions as you develop your research project ideas. If time permits, we will meet in research groups that day to prepare for data collection and work on Worksheet II.

  • The first summary critique paper is due on Feb 14th. Please read over the assignment handout and ensure that you are adhering to APA style in writing your paper.
  • The first exam is scheduled for Monday, Feb 21st. I will conduct a brief exam review on Monday, 2/14, so please look over the study guide, now posted. 
  • Please note that we will be meeting in MENDOCINO HALL 2003 on Wednesday, Feb 16th in order to work on in our research groups on the the first research project worksheet. 
  • I have adjusted my office hours this semester to accommodate a committee meeting. New hours are: Mon 3:15-4:30 and Tues:10:30 - 12:15. Or by appointment. :-)

It is your responsibility to keep up with reading assignments and assignment due dates listed on the course schedule. I have posted a few additional lecture outlines and will continue to post as we go.

Welcome back! A few reminders/announcements as we begin the course:

  • Take a little time to peruse this course web page. On it you will find lecture outlines and assignment handouts, all linked to the syllabus or course outline. Check out the resources page for links to helpful I will be posting lecture outlines and some assignments as I go, so if there is no link for some assignments, it is likely that they have simply not been posted yet.
  • Be sure to check the course schedule and this announcements page periodically (at least once a week); both are updated frequently. It is your responsibility to keep up with reading assignments and assignment due dates listed on the course schedule.
  • Besides your textbooks, there are five required supplementary readings noted on the course schedule. You can click on the links for pdf files of these readings. They are password protected so please see the instructor for the password.
  • We will be forming research project groups early in the semester. Please let me know by Monday, January 31st if you have any requests for being placed in a group with another student in the class.
