1/28/13

Welcome back! A few reminders/announcements as we begin the course:

  • Take a little time to peruse this course web page. On it you will find lecture outlines and assignment handouts, all linked to the syllabus or course outline. Check out the resources page for links to helpful I will be posting lecture outlines and some assignments as I go, so if there is no link for some assignments, it is likely that they have simply not been posted yet. I do not suggest printing out the entire web page, only what you find useful to print out. This may include lecture outlines, handouts and assignment descriptions. The course outline will be updated throughout the semester so beware of printing it out. Check it on line instead.
  • Success in the course requires obtaining, reading, and studying the two assigned textbooks. They are available at the Hornet bookstore for purchase and rental, but however you secure them, you should do so before the end of the first week of class.
  • Be sure to check the course schedule and this announcements page periodically (at least once a week); both are updated frequently. It is your responsibility to keep up with reading assignments and assignment due dates listed on the course schedule.
  • Besides your textbooks, there are four required supplementary readings noted on the course schedule. You can click on the links for pdf files of these readings. These readings are password protected so please see the instructor for the password.
  • We will be forming research project groups early in the semester. Please let me know by February 11th if you have any requests for being placed in a group with another student (or students) in the class.
