Revised 4/8/09 Four lab sessions will be devoted to discussing original recent research. Small groups of students will discuss eight empirical articles during these designated lab sessions. Each student will serve as discussion leader for one of the eight articles and as discussion participant for two additional articles. Discussion leaders will present a brief summary of the study and provide a one-page outline for student participants. Discussion participants will read the article and provide a brief summary. Please provide me with list of your first four choices for articles by Monday, February 2nd, so that discussion leaders may be assigned for each of the articles. At each lab session, two articles will be discussed. Please see the schedule below for dates and times for discussions and your assigned sessions. You need only attend those discussion sessions you are assigned. Please do not be late to your assigned session as this would be extremely disruptive to your fellow students. Discussion leaders should read
their assigned articles (your summary paper article is your discussion
leader article) and complete a one page handout that summarizes
their study’s introduction,
method, results, and discussion, as well as 2-3 questions for
discussion ( Discussion participants should read the article BEFORE the lab session (bring it to class with you!) and complete the discussion participant worksheet BEFORE the session.
