2/2/12

  • Be sure to check this announcements page and the course schedule weekly. There are links to almost everything you need from these two pages.

  • If a link is red, it should be accessible. Some students have been having difficulty reading pdf files on some browsers (e.g., Google Chrome). Firefox and Explorer should work for these files. Lecture outlines are posted to the course schedule as I develop them (i.e., throughout the semester). I will typically post one or two outlines at a time, so if you find that a particular lecture isn't yet linked, it probably means I haven't posted it yet.

  • I will create book club groups on MONDAY the 6th. If you have not already done so if you have not already done so, please read over the book club assignment handout this week and email me your top two choices ASAP. Otherwise, I will simply place you in a book club group. Thanks!

  • Your first position paper is due on FEB 22nd. Please take a look at the Position Paper handout and bring it with you to class on Wed the 8th. We will go over this assignment in class.

1/25/12

Hello and welcome!  Here are a couple of things to keep in mind as we begin the course:

  • Please take a little time to browse through the course web pages this week. You'll likely find some helpful information about course assignments and resources. I do not suggest that you print off the entire web site! Instead, print off those pages that have information you will need in written form (i.e., assignment handouts, lecture outlines). There are a lot of pages for me to take care of, so if any of the links are missing, or if you are having difficulties, please let me know.

  • You can keep on track in the course and assignment due dates by accessing the course schedule. The course schedule will be updated periodically. Be sure to check this announcements page and the course schedule weekly. There are links to almost everything you need from these two pages.

  • Lecture outlines are posted to the course schedule as I develop them (i.e., throughout the semester). I will typically post one or two outlines at a time, so if you find that a particular lecture isn't yet linked, it probably means I haven't posted it yet.

  • Readings are linked to the course schedule. Please see the instructor for password for password protected documents.

  • Please read over the book club assignment handout this week and email me your top two choices for books by the end of the week. I would like to assign students to book club groups by next week. Thanks!

Have a great semester!
