Note: Reponses to these questions should be word processed, not handwritten. Discussion assignments must be turned during the class that the issue is discussed. No late assignments will be accepted. Partial credit may be assigned for attendance at discussion sessions without completion of the discussion assignment. Use the readings cultural diversity to respond to the following guiding and reflection questions. 1) What was the aim of
the Britto & Amer study? List some of the characteristics of Arab
immigrants as described by the researchers. Why is it important to
study Arab families when investigating ethnic identity in this
group? 3) According to Barry et al., why is it important to study child rearing attitudes in general and among different ethnic groups? Describe the constructs of self-construal, ethnic identity and acculturation. 4) Summarize the Barry study (purpose, method, results). How do the results of this study contribute to our understanding of East Asian families and children? 5) Summarize Murray's argument for the need to invest in Social Justice Education. What steps does she suggest schools undertake to incorporate social justice? 6) According to the
SRCD social policy report, what three types of intervention have
been demonstrated to be effective in reducing prejudice and
