• Due 3/13: Read Ch. 9; continue reading on proposal topic

• Our first exam is scheduled for Wed 3/20 (before spring break). See the exam guide. We will hold a short review in class on 3/13, so bring your questions.

• You should be continuing to read on your proposal topic and using it to refine your research question. Take a look a the next worksheet (due after Spring break) for an idea of the next steps in the process.

• Due 3/6: Worksheet #1; Read Ch. 8 and 15

• Due 2/27: your first Critique Paper

• A reminder that we are meeting in FOLSOM HALL 1048 for next week's (2/27) class. Be sure to print out Worksheet #1 to discuss & complete in class.

• You can keep on track in the course and assignment due dates by accessing the course schedule. The course schedule will be updated periodically. Be sure to check this announcements page and the course schedule weekly.

• A (complete) draft of the first critique paper is due next Wednesday, Feb 13th.

• A 1-2 sentence description of a topic you'd like to explore for your Research Proposal  is due WED, Feb 13th.

Hello and welcome.  Here are a couple of things to keep in mind as we begin the course:

• Please take a little time to browse through the course web pages this week. You'll likely find some helpful information about course assignments and resources. I do not suggest that you print off the entire web site! Instead, print off those pages that have information you need in written form (i.e., assignment handouts, lecture outlines). There are a lot of pages for me to take care of, so if any of the links are missing, or if you are having difficulties, let me know.

• Be sure to obtain the course texts as soon as possible, otherwise you will fall behind in the class. You will need to purchase/rent the correct (2nd) edition. Please read the assigned reading before the class for which it is assigned.

• Pdf files of lecture outlines are posted on the course schedule to guide class note taking. Please print out a copy of the outline before class. Note: the outlines are posted as I revise and develop them (i.e., throughout the semester). I will typically post one or two outlines at a time, so if you find that a particular lecture isn't yet linked, it usually simply means I haven't posted it yet.

• An outline of your article for the first critique paper (assigned at first class) is due next Wednesday, Feb 6th.

• Please complete the pretest for the course. This will give me an idea of the kinds of knowledge you have as well as give you an idea of the focus of the course. Please complete it independently and without reference to a text or notes. There is no grade assigned to this exam.
