  • We are scheduled to meet three more times this semester as a group. Next week (11/19), we will discuss any questions you have about sections 1 and 2 of the reading list.
  • I am sending feedback on your latest petition drafts electronically this week. Your final petitions are due 11/19 for submission to the exam committee. Please bring a hard copy to class with you AND send an electronic copy to me to forward to the exam committee.
  • .After Thanksgiving (12/3) we will meet to go over section 3 of the exam list and discuss the exam questions from the exam committee. On the last day of class (12/10) we will meet back together with our 290 friends to tie up lose ends and discuss future goals and plans, over some yummy treats.

KEEP ON PLUGGING....

  • I have made some additions to the exam reading list (more articles posted), and will continue to post pdf files for you as they become available. The docs are password protected, so use the course password provided in class. Please let me know what context you intend to choose for for section 3 so I can focus on those articles first.
  • You should be reading section I and II articles and chapters and working on the annotated bibliography for section I. We will discuss both sections when we meet next on 11/12. Please see the course schedule for changes in due dates for assignments.

9/20/13
  • We will not be meeting this upcoming week (9/24), but will meet instead on 10/1. Since we are such a small group, I would like to meet at Starbucks on H and Elvas (more comfy and there is coffee). I will email you about this as it gets closer.
  • I have done some re-arranging the course schedule so check it out. The exam reading list for this academic year will receive final approval by child development faculty next week. I am working to post pdf files for exam readings. In the meantime, you should work on your focal topic reading and focal topic annotated bibliography (due 10/1)

9/3/13

Hello and welcome to the course! Here are a few things to keep in mind as we begin.

  • We are a small group this semester, so this course is to be combined with CHDV 290 (thesis/project). The two groups will meet together at the beginning and end of the semester, but alternate weeks for other meetings. Be sure to check the class schedule  to see when we will be meeting. There will be assignments due every week, and if we do not meet, they will be due via email.
  • Take some time this week to peruse the course web page, especially the (combined) schedule and resources pages. Check out too the assignments page with links to detailed handouts on each assignment. You needn't print everything out, just those things (e.g., handouts) that will be useful to have as hard copies. Be sure to check class schedule and this announcements page each week for updates.
  • Readings for the course have been linked to the course schedule as pdf files but are password protected. Please see me for a password.

Looking forward to a successful semester!

Sheri
