    Outlook FAQ

    Q. If I use Outlook web access will it intefere with MS Outlook?

    A. No. The MS exchange server keeps your program (MS Outlook) and the web version (OWA) synchronized.

    ---------

    Q. Can I use my MAC or do I have to use a PC?

    A. Either.

    ---------

    Q. Do I have to be at a particular computer (e.g., my office desktop)?

    A. No. The data is on the university network so anywhere that you can connect to the network, e.g.,. via the Web, you can use the system.

    --------

    Q. Why does the system appear slightly different on different computers?

    A. The system "takes advantage" of features available in certain browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer) which is nice on the one hand but means that if you are using another browser, e.g., Mozilla Firefox, the system may look a little different and may not have quite the same functionality. You get the most functionality using Internet Explorer

    --------

    Q. If I use this system, will other people be able to see information that I don't necessarily want them to see, e.g., my trip to the dentist?

    A. Other people only see that you are "busy" not what you intend to do with that time.

    --------

    Q. Can I change information?

    A. Anything you enter (e.g., the scheduled time of a class) is fully editable.

    --------

    Q. If I enter an event as occuring once a week, what happens if a particular week is different? For example, instead of my Monday lecture, I want to schedule an exam on October 27?

    A. The system makes this easy. Enter your lecture as occuring every Monday. Then, go to October 27 and edit that entry for that day to change it to an exam.

    --------

    Q. Can I color code different kinds of events (e.g., lectures, faculty meetings, etc)?

    A. Yes.
