Student Advising Appointments
Why do I look so happy? Because I love advising. |
Guidelines for advising appointments (why?):
- See these pages for answers to simple questions :
- Biology undergraduate curriculum:
- The Biology section of the CSUS catalog:
- Please bring to our appointment:
- Notes (e.g., from previous advising)
- Academic records
- Forms, if needed
- Anything useful.
- I will not sign a registration hold release until a student has an academic plan. Forming a plan will take us a few minutes but it can save you a semester of college.
Student: OK, I read the above and I'm ready to make an appointment.

Goals and Reasons:
- A major goal of any undergraduate curriculum is to challenge students to develop the discipline of practicing to acquire information.
- Every professional is expected to be independent and to take initiative. If you don't accept that responsibility, then you will be unprepared when you graduate. People who choose that path, suffer more and earn less.
- It will also give us more time to focus on the bigger issues, like, how do I get into medical school? How do I choose a graduate program and advisor? Why am I not getting A's when I only have 15 units and 2 jobs? Is space infinite or like a donut? (I can't actually help with last one.)
