Objectives:
Upon completion of this unit students should be able to:
Distinguish between an aquifer, an aquitard and an aquifuge.
Discuss the difference between storativity in a confined aquifer and storativity in an unconfined aquifer.
Define and calculate transmissivity and storativity
Discuss the difference between hydraulic conductivity and transmissivity in confined and unconfined aquifers.
Calculate transmissivity in complex units with multiple layers.
Calculate storativity in unconfined and confined aquifers.
Give appropriate range of values for storativity in unconfined and confined aquifers.
Discuss homogeneity, heterogeneity and isotropy in aquifers.
Calculate total hydraulic head, including problems with variable density
