COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  1. To provide identification and exploration of the basic concepts and decision areas that are central to the general functioning of marketing management.
  2. To examine the role of marketing in our society and the pro's and con's of the use of marketing strategies,

The course is designed to satisfy these objectives through the use of a comprehensive text, lectures and exercises. Students will be expected to have read the assigned text material and be prepared to engage in discussion relevant to the topic areas.

TEXT: Lascu, Dana-Nicoleta and Kenneth E. Chow, Essentials of Marketing, 2nd ed., (AtomicDogPublishing: Cincinnati, Ohio, 2007).
Note: Recommend buying online from Atomicdog - instructions provided in first class.


EXAMINATIONS: There will be five multiple-choice type examinations during the semester. The examinations will contain 50 multiple-choice questions that deal with material covered between examinations. Each examination will be given just once, no makeups.

EXERCISES: There will be 8 application-orientated exercises during the semester. The exercises will only be done in class and by groups that will be determined by the instructor.

CLASS PARTICIPATION: If you are not in class, you are not participating, so class participation points will be primarily based on attendance.
