Employment
The number of jobs in the Butte and Glenn Counties Composite Economic Area continued to increase in 2007 with a 2.2% (1,900 job) increase; following a 2.7% (2,200 job) increase in 2006. The forecast for 2008, based on actual data through December, is for almost no growth at 0.1% (100 jobs).

Unemployment
The average annual Unemployment Rate for the CEA increased in 2007, up to 6.9% from the 6.4% in 2006. The forecast for 2008, based on actual data through December, is for a similar 7.0%.

Taxable Sales
The CEA had a 4.6% increase in Taxable Sales for all outlets in 2006. Based on actual data through the 4th quarter of 2006, Taxable Sales, all Outlets for 2007 will have a slower 4.9% ($160.0 million) increase, while 2008 will both show a similar 4.9% increase.
