Cross-Cultural Psychology
Catalog Description: Cross-cultural psychology is an interdisciplinary field that explores the ways in which culture and human behavior mutually constitute each other. Using a cultural psychological framework that emphasizes cultural meaning systems and practices related to psychological processes, we will examine similarities and differences in human thought and behavior across cultures. A variety of real-world applications will be used to illustrate this interpretive framework. My hope is that you will leave this course with a broader understanding of the theoretical and empirical work on human thought and behavior from a cultural psychological perspective, and that you will be more aware of the range of cultural variation that exists in human thought and behavior in the global context.
