Writing Assignment 2
This is a practice in using
the catalog, which has a wealth of information for you to explore. You can use either a hard copy or go to the
CSUS website to access an on-line copy of the 2008-2010
catalog.

Read the section
on Financial Aid. In complete sentences
explain the 3 requirements for satisfactory progress for a student
receiving financial aid. Also identify
where you would go to find information on (a) institutional scholarships and
(b) scholarships for specific majors.

Read the section
on Degree Requirements-Baccalaureate: General Education. Find a course in Area C, which you think
might be interesting. Record its
department, course number, and title.
Then go to the department section of the catalog to read the course
description. Record the course
description and tell me if you are still interested in taking that course.

Go to either the
Biological Sciences Program or Chemistry Program. For the department you have selected find the
Requirements for the Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) and Requirements
for a Minor in that department. What
is the main difference between the major and the minor, in terms of their
purposes?

Read the section
on Academic Policies and summarize
(a) under what conditions you can get an incomplete
(I) grade for a course and later convert it to a grade, and
(b) what grade point averages are required to
graduate with honors, high honors, and highest honors.

Student Financial Services providing information on your financial
planning. Come prepared with questions.
At the
end of the talk, summarize in writing 2 important ideas presented; yes you will
be turning this in.
