Lesson 1 あたらしい ともだち (New Friends)

Objectives:

Homework consists of the followings:

  • Do Workbook: Check the due dates on the Schedule!
  • Read "Grammar" section in the textbook
  • Study vocabulary for Vocabulary quizzes, and check-up questions for Review Quiz.
  • Memorize"Model Conversation"
  • Listening to the CDs
  • Doing "Practice" in the textbook
  • Previewing and Reviewing the material on WebCT.

In each lesson, there will be 2 Vocabulary Quizzes, a Kanji Quiz, & a Review Quiz. In addition, a lot of online exercises are posted on WebCT. There will be three major tests: Test 1 (L1-2), Test 2 (L3-4), and Test 3/Final (L5-6). Do a little homework EVERY day.

  • For your info, on-line vocabulary dictionary: Kantango
  • Homework: Memorize Model Conversation L1-1, & do homework that you need to submit tomorrow.

* In WebCT, send a Mail message to the instructor. The subject is Why Japanese, and the message from you to the instructor will tell the instructor why you are taking Japanese instead of another language this semester. This can be in English.

* Discussion: Send a group Discussion message to all members of the class. The Topic is Introductions, and the subject is "kon'nichiwa." The message from you will tell the class about a hobby of yours AND reason(s) why you are taking Japanese. This can be in English
